A bathroom or washroom is usually a room, usually in a house or other residential structure, which contains a bath or shower. The presence of a bath basin is quite common. This can be made from different materials such as cast iron, copper, glass or even stone and concrete.

In addition to the above mentioned materials there are also many other types of material that you can have in your bathroom. Some of these include: ceramic tile, fiberglass, limestone, marble, and acrylic. These materials all have different purposes and they are often combined to provide one beautiful unit. Some examples of combinations are: a ceramic sink with a wooden counter top, stone vanity with a fiberglass top, and an acrylic toilet with a ceramic top.

Shower or Bathtubs – these items can vary greatly in price, depending on the type of shower or tub you have and what part of the country you live in. Typically, a bathroom will not require more than a sink and a large bath tub. Bathtubs vary greatly in price, depending on the style, material, and size of the tub. Shower stalls are available, but they tend to be costly. If your bathroom is small, then this option may not be necessary.

Lighting – this is another item that adds to the overall remodel cost. Different lighting effects will change the look of your bathroom and bath. Some examples are: low voltage lighting, fluorescent lighting, and “cobra” lighting. Most people will not want to change the actual lights in their bathroom, but it is good to know that a change in lighting is generally not required.

Adding new fixtures and a few new accessories can easily increase your remodel cost. Bathrooms with a toilet, a tub, and a shower typically cost more to remodel than other bathrooms. It is best to stick with the basics, such as a bathtub and a shower, and let the rest of the house go by. If you plan ahead, you can make your remodeling experience much easier and less stressful.

Replacing Your Toilet – even if you get creative, replacing your toilet can still add substantial cost to your remodeling budget. If you want to go the “do-it-yourself” route, then by all means go for it. But, there are many bathroom contractors out there who would be willing to come in and do the work for you.

One example of a simple fixture you can replace is your toilet. Often times, the toilet will fall on its own. This can happen if you are unable to stop it with the “non-slip shower mat”. So, by installing a non-slip shower mat, you can easily mop up the spilled water. Also, the added value of putting a non-slip mat over your toilet is that the water will spill less, so you won’t have to worry about your floor getting wet, which can be a problem in certain circumstances.
